How it works
One platform, two sides of the pitch.
The same three steps, whichever side of the goal line you are on.
For players & teams
Post your match
Date, pitch, format and level. It takes about a minute and costs nothing to list.
Compare applicants
Goalkeepers near you apply at their own rate. You see their rating and how many matches they have played.
Pick and play
Stripe holds the payment and releases it after you confirm the match was played.
For goalkeepers
Build your keeper profile
Add a photo, your city, a short bio and your experience. Not everything is required, but a fuller profile gets verified faster and earns more trust from teams.
Apply to matches
Browse open matches near you and apply at the price you want for that match.
Play and get paid
Once the match is confirmed, Stripe releases your payment. You never have to ask anyone for the money.
Why MatchKeeper
Putting a stranger in your goal should not feel like a gamble.
We have no reviews or user numbers to show off yet. What we do have are the mechanics that make this safe for both sides.
Every keeper is reviewed by a human
Sign-up is not instant. An admin checks each goalkeeper before they can apply to a single match, so the person who turns up is the person you picked.
- Identity confirmed
- Experience checked
- Approved by an admin
- Removed after no-shows
Money held until it's played
Stripe holds the payment and releases it once both sides confirm the match happened.

A track record you can check
Rating and matches played, built from real bookings only.
Talk before kick-off
In-app chat for the pitch entrance, the kit colour or a late arrival. You do not have to give a stranger your phone number.

Cancellations
What happens if plans change.
These are the rules for a confirmed booking. Until you have accepted a goalkeeper and paid, you can withdraw for free.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| More than 24 hours before kick-off | Free Full refund. |
| Between 24 and 2 hours before | 50% charged Half is refunded. The goalkeeper is paid for the time they held. |
| Less than 2 hours before, or the team does not show | 100% charged The goalkeeper is paid in full. |
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Cancels more than 24 hours before | No penalty The team gets a full refund. |
| Cancels later, or does not show | Strike The team gets a full refund. A no-show suspends the keeper. |
After the match you have three days to confirm it went fine or report a problem. If nobody says anything and the goalkeeper checked in at the pitch, the payment is released to them automatically. If they did not check in, we hold it and contact you both.
For players and teams
- What does it cost to post a match?
- Posting a match and looking through applicants is free. MatchKeeper adds a 15% fee on top of the goalkeeper's rate, only on a match that gets confirmed. The goalkeeper sets their own rate, so you see the full price, rate plus fee, before you book.
- How do I know a goalkeeper is any good?
- Every goalkeeper profile is reviewed by a person before it can apply to a match. You can also see each keeper's rating and how many matches they have played through MatchKeeper, and read their bio before you decide. Ratings only come from completed bookings.
- Can I choose the goalkeeper?
- Yes. Goalkeepers apply to your match and you pick the one you want. You can compare them by rating, matches played, distance and price, and message them before you accept.
- What if no goalkeeper applies?
- Then nothing happens and you are not charged. You only pay when you accept a goalkeeper and the match goes ahead.
- Which formats and pitches do you cover?
- All of them: 5, 7, 9 and 11-a-side, futsal, grass and artificial turf, indoors or outdoors. Describe the format and surface when you post your match so goalkeepers know what to expect. The price is whatever the goalkeeper asks for, so it does not change with the format.
- When do I pay, and when is the money released?
- Stripe holds your payment after you book. Goalkeepers tap "I have arrived" when they get to the pitch. For three days after the match ends you can confirm that everything went fine or report a problem. If you do nothing and the goalkeeper checked in, the payment is released to them automatically when the three days are up. If they never checked in, we do not release it. We hold it and contact you both.
- What if the goalkeeper does not turn up?
- You get a full refund and the goalkeeper receives a strike. Report it within three days of the match so we can sort the refund. A no-show suspends the goalkeeper from new matches, and a second one within 12 months can get them removed from the platform. The full rules are in the cancellation table above and on the Safety page.
- What if it rains or the pitch is closed?
- Weather does not change the cancellation schedule, so the same time limits apply. If you can see bad weather coming, cancel more than 24 hours ahead and it costs nothing. If the venue itself closes the pitch on the day, email matchkeeperuk@gmail.com and we will look at it case by case.
For goalkeepers
- What do I need to create a goalkeeper profile?
- A complete goalkeeper profile: a photo, your city, a short bio and your experience, such as where you have played and at what level. Not everything is required, but the more you add, the faster an admin can verify you and the more teams will trust you when you apply.
- How does verification work?
- A person reviews every goalkeeper profile by hand before it can apply to any match. A profile with a photo and clear experience is quicker to check than an empty one.
- Do I set my own price?
- Yes. You apply to each match at the rate you want, so you can ask for more when the trip is longer or the level is higher.
- Is it free for goalkeepers?
- Yes. Creating a profile and applying to matches costs you nothing, and you receive 100% of the rate you ask for. The 15% platform fee is added on top and paid by the team.
- When and how do I get paid?
- Tap "I have arrived" in the app when you get to the pitch. Stripe holds the team's payment from the moment they book, and releases it to you once the team confirms the match, or automatically three days after the match ends if they say nothing. If you forgot to check in and the team stays silent, we hold the payment and contact you both instead. Stripe then pays it out to your bank account on its normal payout schedule. If the team does not show up, you still get paid in full.
- What if I get there and the team does not show up?
- Tap "I have arrived" when you reach the pitch. We record the time and where you were, and that record shows you turned up. The team is charged in full and you are paid in full. If the team says you were not there, we hold the payment and check your check-in and the chat before deciding. Check-in only works near the pitch and around kick-off, so tap it when you arrive. We keep the exact coordinates for 120 days, then delete them.
- What if I need to cancel?
- Cancel more than 24 hours before kick-off and nothing happens to your profile. Cancel later than that, or miss the match without telling anyone, and the team gets a full refund and you get a strike. A no-show suspends you from new matches straight away. Three late cancellations within 90 days do the same. If something comes up, cancel as early as you can.
